Easy Tomato Basil Sauce
This simple but delicious tomato basil sauce is a healthy and flavorful sauce to put on any pasta.

- 1-15 oz can San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes *any good Italian tomato will work
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, sliced thin
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin Olive Oil
- 6 leaves Fresh Basil
- 1/4 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Fresh parmesan *for garnish
Heat the olive oil over med heat and add the thinly sliced garlic, stirring until the garlic becomes fragrant, but do not let it burn.
Once the garlic is fragrant add the canned tomatoes.
Using your hand (or a wooden spoon), squish the tomatoes to break them up in the pan.
Add the whole basil leaves and reduce the heat to low, let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes for the flavors to combine.
Add salt and pepper, taste for seasoning (adjust if necessary)
While the sauce is simmering, cook your pasta and drain (reserve the water)
once the pasta is cooked at 2 servings to your sauce and toss to combine.
Add a ladle of pasta water, this will also help coat the pasta.
Serve and garnish with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
