- 500 grams lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp crushed red-pepper flakes or more to taste
- 1 T fresh ginger (minced) or 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1 T vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
- 1/4 tsp sesame seeds optional
In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes ,one clove of the garlic (minced) and ginger.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the other two cloves of minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute (do not let it burn-it will get bitter) . Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes, crumbling beef as it cooks, drain excess fat.
Stir in soy sauce mixture until well combined, allowing to simmer until heated through, about 3 minutes.
Serve immediately, garnish with green onion and sesame seeds (if using).
