Rice Krispie Squares

These easy to make traditional rice cereal squares are perfect for the kiddo's.

Equipment

  • 1 9x13" baking pan glass or metal (with lid is helpful)

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • 5 cups miniature marshmallows or 40 regular sized
  • 6 cups Crispy Rice cereal any brand will work
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, add butter or margarine
  • Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir to coat with the butter, then keep stirring over low-medium heat until they are completely melted then remove from the heat
  • If you are using vanilla extract, add it to the marshmallows and stir to combine.
  • Pour in the rice cereal and stir until it is all coated. Then transfer into a greased or buttered 9x13" pan using a buttered spatula to make it easier.
  • Flatten to make it even without compressing the cereal. Let cool 5 minutes then slice into 15 squares.

Notes

A family favorite for generations.  Perfect for kiddo's and quick to make.  Add your favorite add-in's for a special touch.
 
For thicker square use a 9X9" pan.
