Sweet & Spicy Pork Lettuce wraps

Equipment

  • 1 medium frying pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Tbsp Canola Oil
  • 1" piece fresh ginger, chopped
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 lb Fresh ground pork
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • cup Hoisin sauce (pllus more for serving if desired)
  • 1-2 Tbsp Sriracha sauce 1 for less spicy 2 for more spicy
  • 1 carrot julienned into matchsticks
  • 2 med scallions (green onions), sliced diagonally
  • 1 head lettuce, washed and leaves separated Iceburg, Boston or Romaine
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish Optional

Instructions
 

  • In skillet over med heat add the 1 Tbsp Canola Oil.
  • Once oil is hot add the ginger and garlic and cook until fragrant (stirring to prevent it from sticking)
  • Add the 1 lb Fresh ground pork and break it up and season with 1 tsp kosher salt. Fry until no longer pink (about 5 minutes). Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the Hoisin sauce and the Sriracha sauce and stir to coat the pork. Add half of the carrots and stir into the meat mixture.
  • Spoon pork mixture onto serving platter and top with a few shredded carrots, green onions and sesame seeds.
  • To enjoy, spoon a couple of heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto fresh lettuce leaves, top with extra carrots, onions, sesame seeds. Top with extra Hoisin and Sriracha if desired. Roll up and eat!
