This one pot stove top skillet supper is budget friendly and a real crowd pleaser. Made with ground beef and macaroni noodles in a rich and cheesy tomato sauce.

Ingredients
500gramslean ground beef
1medium onion, diced
3cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbspolive oil
600gramspasta sauce
3cupsbeef broth, or water
3-5TbspItalian seasoning*depending on taste
750gramcanned whole tomatoes, with sauce*you can used diced, i prefer chunks
3cups dried elbow macaroni noodles
1cupmozzarella cheese
fresh basil for garnish (optional)dried can be used
Instructions
In a large deep skillet over med-high heat, add oil and onion and cook for 3 minutes until translucent
Add ground beef, minced garlic and season with Salt and pepper and cook until no longer pink. Crumble the beef as it cooks.
Add pasta sauce, water or beef broth, tomatoes, and seasonings let simmer 5 minutes then add the dried pasta, stir to combine
Cover the skillet, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes or until the pasta is tender which will vary depending on the size of your macaroni). Check the pasta and make sure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan, stir and replace lid. You may have to do this every 5 minutes or so, until the pasta is cooked el dente. Do Not overcook the pasta.
Add the mozzarella and stir it in to melt, cover for about 5 minutes
Serve and garnish with fresh or dried basil (optional)
Notes
This is a family friendly quick supper that will be a fan for anyone who loves pastas. It is not as heavy as a lasagna but has similar flavors and will satisfy everyone. Serve it with a nice green salad and maybe a garlic bread or french loaf. If you want to stretch this further, just add more pasta, and increase the water/broth to equal the amount of pasta used. Add vegetables to make it more hearty, I would suggest mushrooms, diced red and yellow peppers, zucchini, You can make this with any ground meat, such as turkey or chicken if you prefer.If you use larger pasta noodles (not elbow macaroni) you will likely need to add additional liquid to ensure the pasta cooks through.
